Plant and animal tissues

|     Nature of plant materials could be hard, soft or   spongy.
|     Nature of plant materials have adapted according to their function.
|     Group of cells has formed tissues in order to perform a particular function.
|     Animal bodies are also formed with different types of tissues.
|     Nature and functions of animal tissues are diverse
Parenchyma, collenchyma, sclerenchyma, xylem and phloem are plant tissues.
Tissues of Parenchyma, collenchyma and sclerenchyma contain only one type of cell.

Parenchyma
collenchyma
sclerenchyma
Properties
Living cells
Isodiametric cells
Inter cellular space present
Polygonal in shape
Inter cellular space present
Extra cellulose in corners
Shiny cell wall
Hard dead cells
Lignified walls
Lack intercellular space

Distribution
Yams, fruits,
Leaves, seeds
Other edible
Parts of plants
Dicot plants,
In veins of leaves and layers immediately interior to epidermis in young stems
Seed coat of dates,
shell of coconut
Function
Storage of food and water,
Mechanical support to herbaceous plants through the turgidity of cells.
Mechanical support to dicot plant parts
Protection and support to plant parts

Parenchyma- different types:-
Pallisade parenchyma
Spongy parenchyma
Aerenchyma
 xylem
phloem
Tubular structure
Tubular structure
Vessels,tracheids,fibers,parenchyma
Sieve tube elements ,
Companion cells, fibers, parenchyma
Transport of water & minerals
Provide mechanical support
Transport of food & storage

Major animal tissues:-
Blood tissue
Muscle tissue
Epithelial tissue

Blood tissue-cells and plasma present
                     Transports and fight diseases

Epithelial tissue:-
Covers body surfaces and organs

Muscle tissue

Smooth muscles
Skeletal muscles
Heart muscles
Spindle shaped,
Unstriated, uninucleate cells

Muscle fibres,unbranched,
Non spindle shaped fibers, striated

Non spindle shaped fibers, striated, branched

Lining of alimentary canal, urinary bladder,
Arteries, veins
Attached to skeleton
In heart
Slow movement
Non voluntary movement,
Quick movement,
Easily tired
Rhythmic beat, functions till death

Mutated cells cause cancer
